We sit at the center of life itself, connected to others, situations in our lives, and the ongoing flow of history – and each one of us is singular, irreplaceable, “untranslatable.”
Astrology, when used well, wakes us up to meaning and purpose, and helps us solve problems along the way.
People seek help because of a particular problem or crossroad in their lives. They wonder how they got there and what is the trajectory that can take them into a more confident future.
Through astrology, this becomes an opening to a conversation about who you are—your state of being, your potential, your concerns and your overall life pattern—enabling you to discover a wider range of perspectives and more options for growth.
Additionally, particular situations may be addressed by casting a chart timed to the asking of an important question or to choose a time for you to initiate a significant event. The chart of a personal event often illuminates that event’s meaning and resolution.

My approach is to train astrological students in having a good understanding and facility identifying and using astrological indicators, but also how be an appropriate and beneficial counselor.

Here we explore some of astrology's symbol systems and some applications to philosophy and spirituality. Critically examining some features of modern astrology that have become standard over the past several decades.
These profiles range from the political to literary to rock idols of Joseph’s youth. Some profiles reflect the issues and concerns of the time in which they were written, others illustrate some admired people, a few about those who are more notorious. (You the reader may decide which is which.)
Even astrologers have tribal tendencies, and only talk to people in their own “bubble”. Yet many astrologers have written books that have gone beyond convention into new areas of astrological possibility. I have reviewed many of them over the past decade.
